History of Twentieth Century China. The History Department at the University of Chicago invites applicants for a tenure track assistant professorship or tenured associate professorship in the field of twentieth century Chinese history, to begin Autumn Quarter 2012. The area of specialization is open, although the Department encourages candidates to apply who are working on politics, culture, science or technology. Successful candidates would also be engaged in the interdisciplinary teaching and research activities of the University’s new Beijing Center.
Consideration of applications will begin on October 1, 2011 and will continue until the application deadline of January 15, 2012. We plan to interview a short list of candidates at the American Historical Association meeting in January 2012. Applications are required to include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a dissertation abstract, and a chapter-length writing sample. In addition, three recommendation letters are also required.
