Assistant Professor of African History
The Department of History at the UW-Madison invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2012 at the rank of Assistant Professor in sub-Saharan African history. Research interests may be in any sub-field, with preference given to West Africa. All research specializations are welcome to apply.
Applicants should hold a doctorate or anticipate its completion by the time of the appointment. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of creativity and excellence in research. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in African history and to work closely with the UW-Madison's Title VI National Resource Center in African Studies.

If the writing sample forms part of a larger book manuscript or dissertation, please include an abstract and table of contents or a statement of how the writing sample fits in with the larger project. Do not send electronic copies of letters of recommendation. For full consideration, complete applications must be received by November 1, 2011.
