The Department of History at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in sub-Saharan African History. Area of specialization is open but preference will be given to historians who incorporate cross-regional comparative perspectives in their work. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory surveys of African history and upper-level undergraduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, with cross listing of courses and collaboration with the College’s Program in African Studies and Department of Afro-American Studies. Ph.D. required by September, 2012.
