U.S. Civil War Era. The Department of History at West Virginia University is soliciting nominations and applications for the Eberly College Professorship in American Civil War Studies, to begin August 16, 2011. The appointment will be made at the full professor or advanced associate professor level. A sustained record of distinguished teaching and research is required. The department is particularly interested in senior or rapidly-rising mid-career scholars of national reputation and with research agendas capable of attracting graduate students and external funding. Teaching responsibilities will primarily encompass upper division and graduate courses in the area of specialization. The position entails significant service and leadership responsibilities and carries benefits commensurate with an endowed professorship at West Virginia University. The department welcomes letters of nomination.
