ASIAN & COMPARATIVE HISTORY The Department of History at Fort Lewis College invites applications for a one-academic-year, full-time, non-tenure track, position in Asian & Comparative History either at the rank of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor. The search is open to all specialists of East, Central, Southeast, and South Asia of any historical period, but we particularly seek a teacher and a scholar with special training and experience in comparative and transnational approaches to understanding the past. The position, which begins in the fall of 2010, is renewable for up to two additional years, contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding. ABD is required for appointment as a Visiting Instructor, and a PhD in hand by 15 August 2010 is required for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor. We seek candidates who are committed to teaching and the goals of the Liberal arts and who show evidence of scholarly potential. The teaching load includes Asian survey courses, upper-division courses in the area of specialization and, in rotation with other department members, entry-level surveys in World History, Philosophy & Methods of History and the Senior Seminar. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist programs throughout campus that focus on Asia and issues of globalization.
