UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT LAFAYETTE—The Dr. Tommy Comeaux Memorial Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Traditional Music. Tenure and rank negotiable, dependent upon qualifications. The chair-holder will be responsible for the creation and leadership of a Center and the development of a degree program in traditional music. The Chair will focus attention on the preservation and perpetuation of traditional music, broadly defined. The ideal candidate will: • have a proven track record in scholarship, teaching, leadership, and fundraising • articulate a creative vision for the Center and its partnerships with artists and scholars • foster and maintain collaborative relationships across the campus, the region, and the globe Responsibilities also include the development and teaching of courses appropriate to the Chair holder’s interests and expertise. Professionalism, collegiality, and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. Earned doctorate preferred. Significant achievements in scholarship and pedagogy within a relevant discipline are expected. A candidate with a master’s degree and significant scholarly and/or artistic experience will receive serious consideration. A record of research and/or creative activity on the topic of Louisiana music is beneficial. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position is subject to approval by the Louisiana Board of Regents. Expected start date: July 1, 2010.
