The University of Macau is a government-funded institution located in the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The Department of History of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSH) invites applications for one full-time Assistant Professor in the following area: Portuguese/Iberian History (Ref.: FSH/DHIS/PI/09/2010) Qualifications Candidates should possess a PhD at the time of appointment, and speak at least one language of his/her specialty area (preferably Portuguese or Chinese) in addition to English. Each successful candidate should have an impressive list of publications or ongoing research projects demonstrating great academic potential, as well as an excellent teaching record or the experience to offer courses in the History of Early Portugal, Modern Portugal, Portugal and Macau, as well as upper-level courses such as Portugal and the Iberian World, East-West Interactions and Exchanges; the Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, French and British Empires; or Diasporas in Asia. Position and Taxable Annual Salary The position offered and taxable salary level shall be determined according to the appointee's academic qualifications, current position, and professional experience.
