The UAF Department of History seeks to appoint a professor of Environmental History (rank and salary commensurate with experience), to a tenure-track position, to fill the Arthur T. Fathauer Chair in History. The Fathauer Chair, the first endowed chair in the University's history, was established to support a faculty position primarily committed to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching and an ability to generate undergraduate intellectual excitement in the candidate's field of interest. The primary responsibilities of the Fathauer Chair will be to teach undergraduate courses, including an introductory survey in World History from an environmental perspective; teach lower and upper division courses in United States and Environmental History, and other fields of candidate's expertise; carry on an active research agenda; provide service to the University and Fairbanks community; and to give a public lecture annually.
