The History Department of the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Modern Asian History effective August 2010. A Ph.D. in History is required by the start of contract period. Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and scholarly achievement required. Teaching load includes freshman courses, upper division courses, and possibly graduate courses. The successful candidate will have opportunities to interface with the Northern Studies Graduate program and to direct the Asian Studies program. Together with the History Department, these programs emphasize the University's commitment to provide excellence in teaching and research on the Circumpolar North.
