SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY. Assistant Professor, tenure track. Salary and benefits highly competitive. SCU's benefit package includes registered domestic partner benefits, housing subsidy program, pre-tenure research leave, and internal grant program; start September 2010. Teach seven classes per year on the quarter system with a one course reduction for research (and an additional course reduction in the first year). Courses include a two-quarter Culture and Ideas 1 & 2 sequence, one course for Culture and Ideas 3, introductory courses in Asian art and upper division courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. Cultures and Ideas courses will be broadly grounded in Asia; see http://www.scu.edu/provost/ugst/core2009/faculty.cfm for more information. Specialist in the visual culture of Asia—China preferred—with strong interdisciplinary approach to the field. Ability to teach Asian art as part of a broader global perspective is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have evidence of a successful scholarly program or trajectory. Ph. D. required by time of appointment, publications and teaching experience beyond level of teaching assistant preferred.
