The Department of Politics of Lake Forest College is seeking applications for a two-year, post-doctoral Fellow in U.S. founding principles and history, to begin in Fall semester, 2010. Topics of interest include: American Political Thought, Foundations of the American Republic, Roots of American Democracy, Creation of the American Constitution, the Founders and their Ideas, American Institutions and their Origins, and American Citizenship. The Fellow will also be expected to help cover, as appropriate, one or more of the department’s regular offerings in American political institutions. The position will involve half-time teaching (three course per year) and half-time research. Salary is competitive. The Department of Politics has six full-time faculty members and services a popular major. The department also offers many of the courses taken by students majoring in International Relations, an interdisciplinary program. Located in a Chicago suburb near the Lake Michigan shore, Lake Forest College is a highly selective liberal arts college with about 1,400 students from approximately 46 states and 68 countries. Active engagement in peer-reviewed research is also expected, and service to the college is valued by the community. Applicants should have received their Ph.D. since January 1, 2006.
