APPOINTMENT IN NINETEENTH-CENTURY EUROPE AND THE WORLD HISTORY – CARLETON UNIVERSITY The Department of History at Carleton University invites applications for an entry-level tenure-track position in nineteenth-century European History at the rank of Assistant Professor. Place or region of specialization is open, though an international or transnational focus on relations and connections between Europe and one or more of the following regions: Asia, Africa, the Pacific, or the Americas is strongly preferred. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in European History, a strong commitment to scholarship reflected in publications, an active research profile, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both undergraduate and graduate programs, including our undergraduate concentration in International History. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a program of research leading to significant peer-reviewed publications, and to contribute effectively to academic life in the department and in the university. Applications, including a curriculum vitae, one article- or chapter-length writing sample, a statement of teaching philosophy or a teaching portfolio, and three letters of reference, should be sent to: Professor James D.
