West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of U.S. History prior to 1820 to begin in autumn of 2010, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates must have their Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2010. A strong commitment to teaching excellence is required and evidence of teaching excellence is preferred. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach U.S. surveys, upper division courses, and graduate seminars in his/her field(s). The ability to offer courses in public history and trans-Atlantic history is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and frequently publish and present peer-reviewed scholarship.
