ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of History invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, in U.S. Twentieth-Century History, with a specialization in urban cultural, urban social, or urban political history broadly defined, beginning Fall 2010, subject to final approval of funding. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in History, demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching, and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Twentieth-Century U.S. History, U.S. Urban History, U.S. Cultural History, the U.S. survey (part of the undergraduate core curriculum), and other upper-level courses of their choosing. The successful candidate also will be expected to offer graduate level courses in the same subjects and participate in the Master of Arts in Urban Affairs Program of the Graduate School. Review of applications will begin October 15 and continue until November 30, 2009, or until the position is filled.
