The Department of Humanities, Mount Royal University, invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Canadian history at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective 15 August 2010. Both positions are open to applicants who focus on the cultural/social history of Canada, and one of the positions will be filled by an applicant who also specializes in twentieth-century Canadian history. A completed Ph.D. and experience in undergraduate teaching is required. The successful applicants must be qualified to teach introductory as well as senior courses, and be willing to participate in course and program development. Mount Royal University is seeking candidates with a focus on teaching and learning, although these positions also provide the opportunity for participation in research. New faculty members are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching / scholarship / service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching / service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure. Both of these positions are in the teaching / scholarship / service pattern, so it is expected that the successful candidates will have a record of scholarly accomplishment, and that they will maintain an active research programme.
