Islamic World. Northeastern Illinois University invites applications for the position of tenure-track assistant professor with appointment beginning August 2010, pending budgetary approval. Candidates should have a deep and broad understanding of the Islamic World, with area of specialization and period of concentration open, and interdisciplinary approaches welcome. The successful candidate is expected to teach general surveys as well as upper-division and graduate courses in area of specialization. Send letter of application stating teaching and research interests, graduate transcript, c.v. with current e-mail address, statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of reference (at least one addressing teaching effectiveness) to Charles Steinwedel, Chair, Islamic World Search, Dept. of History, Northeastern Illinois University, 5500 N.
