The history department of the University of Missouri’s flagship campus, a Carnegie Doctoral Extensive university, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of U.S. environmental history, to begin in fall 2010. Ph.D. in hand by the start of the appointment is expected. The department will consider all applicants, but would prefer one whose scholarship is focused on the post-1850 era. The teaching load is two three-credit courses per semester. Please submit a letter of application describing research and teaching interests, a c.v., and three letters of recommendation, to: U.S. Environmental History Search Committee, Department of History, 101 Read Hall, University of Missouri, Columbia MO 65211-7500. The application deadline is October 28, 2009. The department anticipates doing an initial round of interviews at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association.
