________________________________________ THE UNIVERSITY OF YORK DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY LECTURESHIP IN MODERN BRITISH HISTORY (c. 1830 – 1930) Ref: UoY00478 Applications are invited for a lectureship in Modern British History, which is available from 1 January 2010, on an open contract. This post follows the secondment of Professor Miles Taylor to the Directorship of the Institute of Historical Research and the Department is seeking to appoint someone in the broad field of British history c1830-1930 who will also be able to participate in the teaching and research of the proposed new Centre for Modern Studies, which will be launched in October 2009. The successful applicant will undertake research and teaching within the field indicated above, and will teach at all levels on the undergraduate curriculum and at MA level, and will develop research degree supervision as appropriate. You should possess a good relevant first degree and PhD. A proven record of internationally-recognized research is essential, with evidence of or plans for publication, along with experience of undergraduate teaching and the ability to teach and supervise in the area of modern history post 1830.
