The History Department at the University of Oregon invites applications and nominations for a new endowed chair, the Julie and Rocky Dixon Chair in U.S. Western History. The department seeks an accomplished scholar, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, whose work focuses on any aspect of the American West, broadly defined, especially those with areas of specialization in Asian American history, Chicano/Latino history, African American history, Native American history, environmental history, and the history of women and gender. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an array of courses in the field at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Please send nominations or letters of application, a c.v., and three letters of recommendation to Prof. Jeffrey Ostler, Chair, Dixon Chair search, Department of History, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1288. The review process will begin on November 15, 2009 and will continue until the position is filled.
