US ARMY CENTER OF MILITARY HISTORY, HISTORIES DIVISION, HISTORICAL SUPPORT BRANCH, WASHINGTON, DC About the Position: The incumbent serves as project leader for drafting Army regulations governing the Army Oral History Program and monographs related to oral history as part of the CMH publication series. Work is performed in a general office setting. KEY REQUIREMENTS: U.S. Citizen Additional Duty Location Info: 1 vacancy - DC - Washington MAJOR DUTIES: You will serve as a Senior Historian and team leader for the Oral History Team, responsible for the coordination of the U.S. Army's oral history program and all activities relating to oral history. You will serve as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) in supervising the execution of all transcription contracts. You will direct, control, and distribute the oral history database for and to the entire U.S. Army History Program. You will independently prepare and/or serve as project leader for drafting Army regulations governing the Army Oral History Program as part of CMH publication series. You will serve as the Chief of Military History's senior advisor in matters concerning oral history. You will guide the work of other oral historians including professional historians in preparing for and conducting oral history interviews with senior members of the Army Staff. You will serve as representative of the Chief of Military History in all matters relating to oral history programs. Knowledge and ability to serve as a Senior Historian and team leader for the Oral History Team, responsible for the coordination of the U.S. Army's oral history program and all activities relating to oral history. 2. Knowledge and ability to serve as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) in supervising the execution of all transcription contracts. 3. Ability to direct, control, and distribute the oral history database for and to the entire U.S. Army History Program. 4. Knowledge and ability to independently prepare and/or serve as project leader for drafting Army regulations governing the Army Oral History Program as part of CMH publication series. 5. Knowledge and ability to serve as the Chief of Military History's senior advisor in matters concerning oral history. 6. Ability to guide the work of other oral historians including professional historians in preparing for and conducting oral history interviews with senior members of the Army Staff. 7. Knowledge and ability to serve as representative of the Chief of Military History in all matters relating to oral history programs. Must possess A. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history; or B. Combination of education and experience courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction. Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent). Demonstrated work experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. GS-12 and above: Bachelor's degree directly related to this occupation and 1 year of experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the next lower grade level.
