Meharry Medical College (MMC) invites applications for the position of Executive Director of the newly-established Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Center for Health Policy in Nashville, TN. The RWJF Center for Health Policy at Meharry Medical College seeks to become a nationally-prominent center for health policy. The Executive Director will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer of MMC. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized scholar who can administer a Center dedicated to training minority and underrepresented graduate students in health policy or health services research to be leaders in national health policy. The candidate should be able to promote interdisciplinary research among faculty in the social sciences and faculty in the health sciences. The Executive Director will be expected to provide the requisite leadership to build the RWJF Center for Health Policy at MMC– both its academic focus and its research emphasis – to achieve the mission of the RWJF, to improve health and health care of all Americans. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in economics, political science, or sociology, or a related social-science discipline; related, relevant disciplines include public policy, public health Ph.D.s with policy or health services research, social psychology, demography; Record that merits the appointment as either an Associate or Full Professor at Meharry Medical College, and a secondary appointment with the appropriate department in the College of Arts and Science at Vanderbilt University. Vanderbilt is a primary partner in this initiative. This would include the necessary additional qualifications of a publication record commensurate with a senior faculty member, good interpersonal skills, solid grant management experience, and a willingness to assume limited departmental responsibilities; Significant scholarly activity in health policy or health services research that complements existing department research interests.
