Heidelberg University is seeking to employ as soon as possible an Assistant Professor/ Lecturer in Japanese history for its Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context: Asymmetries of Cultural Flows", which is funded by the German Federal Excellence Initiative. Successful candidates are expected to have completed their PhD by September 2009 and are fluent in English and Japanese. German is not required but German language classes are available. Work includes publishing internationally, teaching one course per semester in English, and the usual administrative duties. First appointment is for six years. Salary 35,000-50,000 Euro per year (TVL-13). Please submit a CV, up to three publications or written samples, two recommendation letters, university grade transcripts and a book project proposal of about 6 pages to the cluster's executive assistant Annette Kobler (kobler@asia-europe.uni-heidelberg.de) addressed to the head of the search committee Professor Harald Fuess. Deadline: Application deadline is 30 June 2009. Travel and accommodation expenses for the interviews in Heidelberg will be reimbursed. |
