The Department of History announces visiting lecturer positions to replace faculty on leave during the 2009-2010 academic year. We are seeking candidates with strong teaching credentials who might contribute to our undergraduate program in these fields. The courses will begin in either Fall 2009 (September-December), Winter 2010 (January - March) or Spring 2010 (April - June). The salary is $5417.00 per course (based on an annual 9 month salary of $43,336). The department will create a pool of candidates in each field and will make selections when the final budget is approved. The areas and topics are as follows. Jewish History (2) History 130B - Modern Jewish History (Fall 2009) History 18A - Introduction to Jewish Cultures (Winter 2010) Korean History (2) History 173E - Korean History 1800-1945 (Fall 2009) History 173F - Korean History since 1945 (Winter 2010) United States History (4) History 140A - Early America (Winter 2010) History 140 - Open Topic in Pre 1800 United States History (Spring 2010) History 100W - Writing About History (Spring 2010) Specialized course focusing on history writing and research skills based upon the instructor's intellectual interests History 190 - Colloquium (open topic) (Winter 2010) Specialized course dealing with close reading and analysis of primary or secondary works on a topic reflecting the instructor's intellectual interests or expertise. Armenian History (2) History 183 - Ancient Armenian History (Winter 2009) History 183 - Modern Armenian History (Spring 2009) Preferred Qualifications: PhD in History or related field appropriate for the course and college level teaching experience.
