Western Civilization I & II. The Department of History at the University of Alaska Anchorage invites applications for a one year, full-time bi-partite term appointment to teach Western Civilization I & II survey courses beginning August 2009. Candidate will teach 4 sections of the survey courses per semester. Candidates must show strong commitment to teaching at the University level. University-level teaching experience required. Candidates with advanced ABD status required and preference given to candidates who have a Ph.D in hand at the time of employment. Applicants with an area in European/Western Civilization history required. Position opened until filled. Review begins June 5. A letter of application, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, sample course syllabi, names, phone and email of 3 referees must be submitted electronically to the UAA/HRS job website. 3 letters of recommendation and copies of unofficial transcripts must be sent as hard copies to the search committee chair, address below.
