The University of Northern British Columbia, in conjunction with the History Program, invites applications for a tenure-stream position in imperial/colonial history at the Prince George campus with anticipated start date of August 1, 2009. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level, and candidates should be either have an ABD or have a PhD in hand. Scholars from all regional specializations outside of North American are encouraged to apply; however, the successful candidate will be expected to teach European history. A demonstrated ability to teach in non-western areas will be considered an asset.
Potential applicants should consult the UNBC History Program webpage to ascertain the degree to which individual specializations would contribute to the established thematic orientations within the program. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute, in a meaningful way, to teaching at all levels of the curriculum and to take on graduate instruction and supervision. A record of excellent teaching and active student mentorship is required.
