April, 2009 The University of Oregon Ethnic Studies Department is establishing a pool of applicants for short-term teaching appointments in the following fields: African American, Arab American, Asian/Pacific American, Chicana/Chicano, Latina/Latino, Native American, and comparative ethnic studies. Positions may be part-time, temporary, limited duration appointments not to exceed one year however, these positions are renewable for up to three years. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and pool will remain active one year or until all available positions have been filled. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled. The first screening will begin after March 31st. Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred but candidates with a Master’s degree or who have advanced to candidacy in a Ph.D. program will also be considered. The Department is particularly interested in special topics classes and introductory classes in the following areas: Arab-American, Asian/Pacific-American, Chicana/Chicano, Latina/Latino American studies, women of color feminisms and comparative ethnic studies. Complete applications must include: a statement of interest describing qualifications, a curriculum vitae, a proposed syllabus for a lower division special topics class (ES 199), a brief writing sample and at least two letters of recommendation.
