Public History: Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Public History, beginning August 2009. Ability to teach courses in area of specialization and general education required. Ph.D. in History, teaching experience, and evidence of scholarly potential expected. Instructional duties will include student advisement and curriculum development. In addition to instructional duties, faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in service activities.
Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System. Located in Boone, North Carolina, the University has approximately 15,000 students and has been ranked by "U.S. News and World Report" as one of the top 15 among southern regional universities since the rankings first appeared in 1986.
