About Job Guide
The H-Net Job Guide offers academic position announcements in History and the Humanities, the Social Sciences, and Rhetoric and Composition. A weekly index of job advertisements is distributed to the H-Net membership via LISTSERV. The Job Guide is fully sortable and searchable and is available at no cost to the jobseeker. Often receiving more than 50,000 page views per week, the Job Guide is one of H-Net's most visible components.
H-Net sponsors over 150 free electronic, interactive lists edited and maintained by over 500 volunteer editors, and mailed to 160,000 subscribers from over 90 counties. These e-mail lists function as electronic networks, linking professionals, teachers and students in discussions and in the exchange of ideas and materials. H-Net networks span the world, from American studies to Southeast Asian studies; span time, from medieval Islam to modern America; span disciplines, from political science to sports literature; and span diverse audiences from the academe, educational community, and broader public.
H-Net Job guide is an excellent resource for advertising job openings. H-Net serves a broad audience, including graduate students, K-12 teachers, archivists, librarians, interested professionals and the educated general public. This makes the Job Guide a suitable place for a wide range of academic and nonacademic jobs. It also allows both for wide distribution of advertisements and for finding target audiences. To find out more about submitting a job advertisement, go to submit a job.
To offset the continuing and considerable costs of maintaining and improving the H-Net Job Guide, a nominal payment of $115(US currency) is expected. Yet, as always, H-Net considers the Job Guide a service to the academic community, and is thus willing to provide this service free of charge to those institutions or NPOs genuinely unable to make payment.
