Sam Houston State University (SHSU) recently established a B.S. in History for undergraduates with an interest in a career in medicine, and three new minors in Gender Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, and Latin American Studies. Pending funding, the SHSU History Department seeks candidates with strong teaching and research skills for one or more of the following fields: (1) African and/or Middle Eastern history, (2) Gender/Sexuality Studies, and (3) History of Medicine. Candidates will be expected to offer upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise and be able to teach the US and/or the World History surveys. Rank and salary are open. Representatives from the department will be at the AHA to meet with interested candidates and to receive vitas. Candidates should send to the Search Committee a letter of interest, a statement of research and teaching philosophies, a vita, and official transcripts. Finalists will be asked to supply three supporting letters. Attendance at the AHA is not necessary, but if you are planning to be in New York, please include this information in your letter.
